How to Create a Workplace War Room

If you’ve not seen the Kendrick brothers movie, War Room with Priscilla Shirer, please do!

As Christians, we are at war. When you became a Christian, you were recruited you were in God’s army and you need to learn to take your stand against the enemy. While the battle around us is God’s, we have come into it too. When a warrior is going into battle, she has to have a battle plan. We don’t go blindly into battle, it’s just not wise!

You may have a War Room at your house, whether it’s a room, closet, or just a favorite spot to pray fervently. In the workplace, you may or may not have a quiet corner to use as a War Room. I just wanted to share some ideas with you on how to create a War Room for yourself while you’re at work.

First, consider what the War Room means to you. Your War Room is your home base. It’s where you go to do battle on your knees and to listen to your command. Next, consider location. Do you have a private office? Is there a corner bulletin board or somewhere in your office that would serve the purpose well?

If you don’t have a private office, is there a quiet spot in the building that may work for you? If weather permits, this may even be an outside location, or maybe in your car when you’re on a break.

If your location does not have a place where you can post your War Room prayers, just start a War Room journal or a notebook. It’s possible to do this on your phone, but there’s something powerful about having the prayers in your own handwriting, or at least just printed out into a hard copy. Whether it’s a spiral bound notebook or a binder in whatever size you choose, you can create a portable War Room to carry in your purse or briefcase.

In addition to these ideas, you can turn any moment into a War Room moment by continuing your prayers throughout the day in the form of breath prayers. It’s still important to have your full-on war-mode-type prayer sessions, but speaking breath prayers throughout the day can go a long way in helping you stay focused on God’s truths and letting the enemy know exactly where you stand.
