Are you being mastered?

The internet is full of all of the things you “should” or “shouldn’t” do. Often, it’ll include scripture filtered through personal opinion and interpretation. It will also often include much debate, which is likely to not all be loving and Christ-like.

Commentary on social media opinions digresses very quickly, as I’m sure you’ve noticed.

It’s so easy for us to move forward with the mentality that we have the right to do whatever we want, but it is so important for us to stop and ask ourselves (and more importantly, our Heavenly Father) if it’s beneficial. I have the right to eat all the sugary treats I want, but is it beneficial? No. Raw moment, it’s something I have to be careful with because I don’t want to be mastered by it. I have a right to speak freely about any topic I’d like… but not all topics are going to be beneficial to myself or others. I have the right to feel what I feel, but I will not be mastered by it. I will not let my emotions dictate how I respond and treat others. I know I have divine help and choose to response with love and the Word of God.

What do you “have a right to do” but need to master so it doesn’t master you?
