This message is for you ladies who are spiritual warriors. If you know who you are in Christ and you have your armor on- how does that all tie in with your daily life?
Sometimes it can be really hard to mesh the two when you’re living in the world, but you know you’re not of the world. It can be a challenge when you fully recognize that, and you know there’s a battle going on around you but you still have to wash the dishes, go to work, and do all the things that you have in front of you as you set all the goals in your career that you have to set. It can be a little bit hard to mesh those together!
So how do you do that?
It can be very helpful to start your day off right.
One way to do that is to start your day early, before anybody else is up, even. When you start your day early and you have that quiet time with God to read from the Word, sharpen your sword, and find that time for prayer that is fervent and strategic, then that sets your tone for the day.
Once you’ve done that, then it can be a really good idea to write out your goals. I recently read a great book by Brian Tracy about goal-setting. It was very encouraging and inspiring! One of the things he recommended was to write out five to ten very specific goals that you plan to achieve (and make them SMART goals like we talked about before). Make them SMART goals that are very specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-based, but then write them every morning. Don’t look at the day before, but just write your goals out every morning- Five to ten of your top goals and then put it aside. The next morning, you’d get a paper and you write your five to ten goals again. It can be amazing what that does to your thinking!
So when you’re setting your goals in personal tense, with the “I” at the beginning, and you are setting them in present tense saying something like, “I have achieved ____ by _____” (whatever the date may be – this is where the time–based comes in). When you do that, you are opening up a realm of possibilities for your brain and you are moving forward in a positive direction.
When you do that after your prayer and devotional time, pretty cool things can happen! As you’re asking for guidance from the Holy Spirit in setting your goals and you are getting your mind in the right direction, you are going to make more successful choices. As we read in Proverbs 21:5, “The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty.”
Don’t be hasty in your days. Start your days off right!
- Get up Early
- Sharpen your Sword & Talk to your Heavenly Father and
- Write out your goals what you are planning to achieve with the Holy Spirit’s guidance.
You can follow that up in the mornings with - Writing out your affirmations. This may be in the form of scriptures that give you inspiration and help you to really focus in the right place.
I can tell that my affirmations pretty much come straight from Scripture. For example, “the Lord is my strength,” and “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Those are two of my favorites, and I encourage you to share yours with us come to the Every Day Incredible ladies Facebook group: Finding Christ-centered life balance and share some of your favorite affirmations and maybe your morning routine with us. What helps you be successful? Let us learn from you too!
