Acts of Kindness #RACK
You may remember an article here at Every Day Incredible a while back about the World’s Happiest Man.
I encourage you to go back and read or re-read it, but I also wanted to really emphasize how important it is for our own happiness and overall wellness to focus our thoughts on others. When we are focused inwardly, we tend to become consumed by stress and worry. When we focus outwardly, we find purpose and joy.
A great example of acts of kindness in our local community is the #RACK movement. It makes me smile every time I see the hashtag in the community and hear of people doing Random Acts of Cody Kindness, in memory of a wonderful young man who was also the son of a colleague of mine. After his tragic death, his family and friends decided to carry on his legacy by focusing on others and encouraging people around the world to do the same. The result has been incredible. Check out the #RACK facebook group here.
For Wednesday Wellness, I want to encourage you to do an act of kindness for someone else.
Ideas:
- Send a snail mail card or package to a friend
- Pay for someone else’s coffee/meal
- Give someone a compliment
- Take someone flowers
- Visit a nursing home resident or shut-in who could use some company (try playing their favorite music from younger years from Pandora or something similar!)
- Print or write encouraging scripture for someone going through a difficult time
- Bake cookies/brownies for someone
- Get a bouquet of flowers, dozen donuts, or other gift item and just give them to anyone… stop in a business, emergency/medical services location, etc. and leave them for the employees there
- Tape money to a vending machine with a cheery note
- Leave a post-it with an inspiring note on a bathroom mirror
- Take snacks to your nearest medical center’s Hospitality House
Share your random acts of kindness ideas in our facebook group, Every Day Incredible Ladies.
