The prayer of a 7-year-old… 2 Corinthians 10:3-5

This morning, my 7-year-old prayed that God would help him throw his worries to God and take every one captive and bring it into obedience to Him.

Whoah.

What a blessing is that??

That is a similar prayer to what I pray over him each morning before school, but he took it and made it his own – he gets it! He is understanding that when we give our worries to God and take our thoughts captive (rather than letting them take US captive), we can take charge in Jesus’ name and focus on what is going to be GOOD for us.

God wants GOOD things for us! When our thoughts and heart line up with the thoughts and heart of God, we can enter any situation with peace and calm. We don’t get sucked into arguments and drama, we can keep the joy of Heaven in our hearts and continue on our way (even when the way is painful).

Today, I encourage you to take every thought captive and bring it into obedience to Christ because THEN you can have peace and freedom in Him. Just remember, you’re not doing it on your own. The weapons we use (the Sword of the Spirit!) have divine power… not our own.

Have a blessed day!!

2 Corinthians 10:3-5

For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
