Not every message is for you, but….

Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

Not every message in the Bible is for you. That may sound a bit off at first, but it’s true. This week’s passage is a familiar one to most of us, and it’s even in vinyl lettering on the wall of my boys’ bedroom.

Even so, it wasn’t a message directly to my boys, or me. It was a message directed at Jeremiah.

However- even messages in the Bible that were specific to others are very valuable. They tell us more about who God is and how things work. From this passage, we know that God KNOWS us before He even forms us. We are thoughtfully created. He creates us with purpose! That’s such an incredible thought to me. I have no reason to think that we are any different than Jeremiah in how loved we are or in the fact that God creates us with purpose- with a mission, euipped with exactly what we’ll need.

If you’re feeling restless or bored, maybe you need to be refreshed by spending time in God’s presence, asking Him, “what is my mission, Lord?”
