What’s on your mind?
Philippians 4:8
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy- think about such things.
Have you ever had to break a bad habit? Habits form with repetition, whether good or bad. The way our brains function, once we’ve engaged in a behavior multiple times, we begin to form those connections in such a way that it doesn’t take as much brain power to continue repeating. Remember me telling you a while back about dendrites?
Wherever your thinking lies, whatever thoughts you indulge, they are going to become more readily available. They’re going to become habit.
Doesn’t it make sense then, that you become very intentional about where your thoughts are directed?
AS SOON AS you catch thoughts that are producing negative feelings and behavior, ask yourself: Is it true? Is it noble? Is it right? Is it pure? Is it lovely, admirable, excellent or praiseworthy? If NOT, what can I choose to add in its place?
