Have you ever had your heart broken? (with free printable scripture)

Psalm 34:18

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

Have you ever felt brokenhearted? I have. For sure. I’ve felt like I was “crushed in spirit” on more than one occasion. It was NOT fun.

It was painful. Lonely. Dark. Difficult.

However. It was while I was brokenhearted that I began to recognize the beauty that comes along with the sorrow. If you’ve not “been there” yet, I’m glad. You may not understand it yet, but I’m glad for you.

If you have, though, I hope you have learned or soon learn to recognize how peace, pain, joy and sorrow all can and do coexist.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted…”  I definitely found this to be true. In my devastated place, I was lovingly reminded that God never leaves us. I was reminded that He has loving plans for us. He felt close. On one of our darkest days, I’m sure I was close enough to touch Heaven. I could feel an out-of-this-world kind of peace, and it was truly incredible.

If you are brokenhearted today, look around. Do you see evidence of God’s presence? If not, keep looking. Seek Him, and you will find Him. He is close to the brokenhearted, and He saves those who are crushed in spirit.
