Set your minds on things above

Colossians 3:1-3
1 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.

 

We are surrounded by distractions and fears. Cravings and needs. The world around us promises to fulfill those cravings and needs with the next best thing. There are billboards, ads and commercials at every turn, trying to convince us that they have exactly what is going to complete us.

Spoiler alert – they don’t.

Good news though – God does.

When we turn our cravings Heavenward, we can find true fulfillment. Because we have been adopted into God’s family, as His children, we can go to our Heavenly Father to supply every need. We can talk to him and acknowledge that we feel tempted to seek elsewhere for our answers, but verbally affirm that we are choosing to seek the answers in Him alone. Whatever the need.

 

What is your internal struggle right now? What earthly things are distracting you, and what promise from above do you need to remember today? Trust God for those promises to be fulfilled.
