Turning Faith to Fear
Romans 1:17 For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”
Fear can be brutal. It can influence us to make poor decisions and rob us of blessings. The remedy for fear, however, is faith.
Righteousness, or “right living” is vital to the spiritual (and physical, for that matter) health of a Christian. It is righteousness that becomes our breastplate and protects us from enemy attack. When we turn our fears into faith, we can walk in righteousness and be protected by our spiritual armor.
In practice, when you are tempted to worry, exercise your faith by praying (out loud when possible!) something along the lines of, “Lord, I’m tempted to worry, but I choose to trust in you. You are my refuge and my fortress. You are my provider.”
