Have you ever had to eat your words?
During last night’s facebook live, we talked about the power of the spoken word.
Tonight, I want to share with you Colossians 4:6 –
“Let your conversation be always full of Grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone. ”
Have you ever been in a situation where you’ve had to eat your words? Maybe you spoke something and then heard it repeated back to you through someone else and you had to own up to saying it. Maybe you were quick to criticize someone, only to later learn more information about the situation and find that you didn’t know what you were talking about and spoke much too quickly (and harshly).
You genuinely never know what others are going through in any particular period of time. You don’t know what demons they are battling. You don’t know their grief and unseen hurts. You just don’t know.
They also don’t know yours.
When you are having any conversation, train yourself to only speak things you would want others saying about you in your deepest struggles. Extend grace.
You have a Heavenly Father who did that for you, after all.
Besides, if you are careful what words you speak, when it comes time to answer to them later, it will be much, much less unpleasant!
