I’ve messed up…

2 Cor 12:9: But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

In a photoshopped, social media world, we don’t like to share our weaknesses, do we?

It’s easy to be deceived by the highlights reels of those around you as you compare them to your own bloopers reel.

We all do it. We look for a better angle, we filter, we delete and do a retake… In reality, we ALL have weaknesses.

Ya’ll… seriously. I’ll be the first to tell you that I have had my share of struggles too, and I hope I do come across as “real,” because that’s my intention. I’ve messed up. Often. I’ve raised my voice at my kids, I’ve let the house get too cluttered and let responsibilities slip through my fingers because I got overwhelmed… I’ve gotten defensive when I needed to just be still, I’ve not worn my armor when I should have… and those are the mild things, right?

But you know what?  It’s OKAY. It’s just our imperfect, fallible humanity showing through, and that’s okay. But there is where the beauty lies… It is in those weaknesses that we have potential to let God show His power… and He will! He has. In all of those areas I just listed… all of those ways I’ve messed up… I’ve also given them to God.

I’ve found so much more peace, healing, and spiritual growth since learning to change my approach. I’ve learned that when I give up the guilt, overwhelming stress, fear, discouragement… when I let go of that stuff and revert back to what God has ALREADY promised us in Scripture – His Grace truly is sufficient!

Each step of the way, as I give God the broken pieces, He teaches me to put them back together in a more intentional way…. and THAT is powerful.
