Jot it down
I have spoken with many clients over the years who have difficulty going to sleep due to racing thoughts and worries. One simple tip that many have found helpful is to keep a notepad by your bed, and if you are having difficulty getting to sleep due to racing thoughts, put pencil to paper and don’t quit until you’ve run out of things to say. Verbally thank God for taking care of those needs, and lay the journal down to try to sleep again.
One of my former clients once told me that she would close her eyes and visualize throwing the worries into a dumpster. I loved the idea! I’d even suggest taking your own variation. You could even try visualizing writing them down and leaving them at the foot of the cross, for example. Again, don’t forget to thank Him even before you see how He will help you because you can trust He will always help you through your storms.
