If so, you’re not alone. I’ve totally done that too.
More than once. Buuuuut anyway.
If you HAVEN’T done this, let me tell you what happens…
You just get a carafe of hot water with a faint coffee aftertaste mixed with the flavor of disappointment.
It’s the coffee that makes it coffee.
Similarly, we have to filter our hot water situations through God.
When we do that, we begin to take on His characteristics, like the hot water takes on the characteristics of the coffee grounds (when we remember to add them).
We begin to show the fruits of the spirit, even in trials.
FURTHERMORE… when we filter everything through the Father and take on His characteristics – that IS a fragrant offering to Him!
That is sacrificing self to rely more on Him, and that is a beautiful, powerful thing!
He LOVES that fragrance.
Ephesians 5:1-2 (NIV)
Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
Be fragrant!
In Christ,
Keri
P.S. – Do you want to learn more about God’s character as you learn to take things to Him? Check out my first book, Love Isn’t Selfish on Amazon. It’s all about understanding God’s love (and character) through the human relationships we have.
